From the technical side remasters offer lots of graphical issues and fixtures. As far as health and armor are non-regenerative, players controlling Sam have to gather special packs, which are scattered all around, in addition to dodging aliens’ attacks. Enemies themselves range from basic soldiers to gigantic robots. The gameplay consists of eliminating waves of re-spawning invaders all across the game map. According to the plot, the protagonist fights against science-fictional extraterrestrial forces and their leader Mental, whose only aim is the devastation of humanity. The series follows Sam Stone’s adventures set in the environment of Egyptian pyramids, jungles and medieval castles. Humans in order to survive choose to use "Time-Lock" - an ancient Sirian artefact in hopes to kill Mental's army of grotesque monsters. The story of the game is about extraterrestrial being named Mental who wants to destroy humanity and alien race called Sirians who left lots of artefacts to be discovered by humans. The game is well-known for its design choices and enemy behavior - to run in big waves directly to a player. This time – not hell, or space but never-ending dunes of Egypt. The difference from other first-person shooters of that time was slightly different setting. Serious Sam: The First Encounter, made by Croteam, was no different. There wasn't so much going on with the story or plot but rather the main purpose of shooters was nothing more but shooting. There were times when first person shooters were much simpler than now.
